Belgrade has been in the so-called red zone of air pollution for a while now and was among the most polluted cities in the world in the morning on Oct. 31, public service RTS has reported.

Belgrade shares the third spot on the list of most polluted cities with Dubai, with only Lahore and New Delhi ahead of them.

A thick fog is visible in almost all parts of Belgrade, while websites measuring air quality say that the air is unhealthy due to an increased presence of PM2.5.

The number of those particles is currently 17.2 times higher than the World Health Organization's annual air quality reference value.

The air in Belgrade has been described as unhealthy and is in the red zone.
