Civil society organizations have carried out 13 solutions to improve the conditions for the survival of numerous endangered species of plants and animals in protected areas of Serbia, the UNDP announced on March 21.
It said that these solutions encompass practical measures that improve active protection in natural habitats, as well as measures for raising awareness of their importance to man's well-being. In addition to a direct positive effect on wild species and their habitats, the activities that were implemented will contribute to strengthening resilience to climate change as well as reestablishing the natural balance that human activity has disrupted, a statement said.
The Subotica Riparia nature lovers association has set up 200 artificial nests which will help the recovery of the endangered European roller family of birds, while the Jadovnik - Oasis of Pristine Nature from Prijepolje society of citizens has created the conditions for rehabilitating injured and exhausted birds of prey and vultures in southwestern Serbia.
The EU for Green Agenda in Serbia project is being carried out by the UNDP with the technical and financial support of the EU and in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and also in association with the Swedish Embassy and European Investment Fund (EIB) with additional financial means secured by the governments of Sweden, Switzerland and Serbia.
