BIRODI: Data on Campaigning by State Officials

The Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) has unveiled data on TV coverage of campaigning by government officials in main news broadcasts in the past few general and presidential elections.

In the campaign for the 2017 presidential election, the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation and the Pink, Prva, O2, Happy and N1 televisions devoted eight hours and seven minutes to the campaign of then-prime minister and presidential candidate Aleksandar Vucic.

Ahead of the 2016 general election, the same televisions covered then-prime minister Aleksandar Vucic's activities in the amount of five hours and 54 minutes, whereas then-president Tomislav Nikolic got half an hour.

In the campaign for the 2012 general election, the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation and the televisions Pink, B92, Prva, TV Vojvodina and Studio B covered the campaign of then-prime minister Mirko Cvetkovic in the amount of 29 minutes and 52 seconds, while then-president Boris Tadic used state activities for his campaign for an hour and 39 minutes, BIRODI stated.
