Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that a commission set up to find out if Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali's PhD thesis was plagiarized was now exposed to pressures from students threatening to block the Belgrade University Rectorate building again.
In a prime-time interview with the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), Brnabic asked what it would mean for the Belgrade University if the commission, established at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, made a decision contrary to that brought by a committee of experts and challenges Mali's doctorate.
"I want to know, and I'm asking those supposed to make the decision, if you decide retroactively on something that happened in 2013, based on a rulebook from 2016, does that mean that you can evaluate any PhD thesis retroactively? It would place the Belgrade University in an awkward position, abut I trust the university is strong enough to resist pressures," Brnabic said.
