French Ambassador Jean-Louis Falconi has said that it is of exceptional importance for France to hear the stances, proposals and possible dilemmas that Serbia has as a candidate for membership in the EU, the process and methodology of leading negotiations so far and as well as the concrete benefits of the process in this phase.
During a talk with Serbian Minister of European Integration in Belgrade Falconi underlined that France's position was clear as to the ultimate goal of the accession process - full membership for candidates that carry out all of the necessary reforms, the ministry said.
The French ambassador presented in greater detail the ideas in a non-paper, but stressed that they would be thoroughly debated by all member-states, and that for the ideas to develop they needed to be harmonized within the EU, the new European Commission and all of the EU's member-states.
Falconi stressed that France recognized Serbia as a serious candidate state, which was ready to conduct important reforms in the area of rule of law and the economy.
Minister Joksimovic thanked the ambassador for his initiative to additionally present France's position on the non-paper.
