Novi Sad’s new mayor, Zarko Micin, elected last week by a majority at the Novi Sad legislature led by the Serbian Progressive Party, has been a longtime close associate of the party's president, Milos Vucevic, the outgoing prime minister of Serbia. Micin's election as mayor means that control over Novi Sad remains in the hands of the Progressive leadership.
