Djuro Macut (PrtScr: Pink)
One of Serbia’s leading endocrinologists, Djuro Macut, will be the next prime minister of Serbia, President Aleksandar Vucic announced on April 6. Macut, a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, will not hold real power in the country, but will rather serve as a “dispatcher,” working under the directives of his boss, Vucic. The expectation is that Macut might help ease the crisis in the country and act as a bridge between the government and protesting students, but this will be an impossible mission for him, since he is not a non-partisan figure, as some like to portray him, but one of the nominal initiators of Vucic’s new political movement.
