On Feb. 9, the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will be discussing reports on Serbia proper and Kosovo. The two documents reiterate full support to EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and call on both sides to embrace good faith and the spirit of compromise and endeavor to achieve a comprehensive, legally-binding agreement on normalizing relations, in keeping with international law.

Serbia proper and Kosovo are also asked to fully abide by all relevant agreements reached so far, “including [the one detailing] the founding of the Association/Community of municipalities with a Serb majority.”

The reports also condemn all activities that undermine stability and the reconciliation process and express serious concern over the tensions in northern Kosovo and the shooting which took place on Orthodox Christmas Eve. Both sides share responsibility for peace and ensuring the rule of law for all people in Kosovo, the documents state.

The report on Kosovo, which includes a proposal for resolving its conflict with Serbia proper, was penned by Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, while the report on central Serbia was authored by Vladimir Bilcik.
