Ombudsman Zoran Pasalic said on June 13 that environmental protection was one of the most important topics at this time internationally as well as "an individual topic concerned with Serbia's speficality."
Opening a two-day international conference, Joint Efforts Toward a Healthy Living Environment: The Role and Importance of the Ombudsman, in parliament, he said that Serbia as a country "is known for its agricultural products and everything that basically depends on a stable ecological system."
He stressed that it was necessary for individuals and officer holders to "together and through joint activities "take "full responsibility for the endangered environment." He added that "the right to a healthy environment is the constitutionally guaranteed right of all citizens."
Pasalic said that the organization of the Expo 2027 international exhibition was an incentive to invest "maximum effort" not just in dealing with the subject of environmental protection but analyzing the results.
