The Valjevo police have arrested three engineers on suspicion that they had been divulging the state and military secrets of the Valjevo-based munitions and weapons manufacturer Krusik to a foreign state for an extended period.
The Serbian Interior Ministry said in an announcement on July 22 that the three suspects, aged 37, 63 and 60, were engineers formerly or currently working at Krusik, and were arrested on suspicion of the crime of espionage.
"They committed said crime by taking confidential business and technical documentation from the company without authorization and giving it to a foreign organization, to the detriment of military, security, defense and other interests and to the weakening of the power of Serbia," the Interior Ministry statement read.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Valjevo has detained the suspects for 48 hours and they will be brought in before the prosecutor with a criminal report.
According to a report by the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation, the suspects are one former and two contracted engineers at the Krusik holding company, who are believed to have had ongoing contact with North Macedonian citizens working at the ATS Group throughout 2024.
