Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Aug. 6 the building of a museum dedicated to tennis star Novak Djokovic in Belgrade "soon."

"Rafael Nadal has a museum in Palma de Mallorca and Djokovic is bigger than him in tennis. We would like to show how much we respect what he has accomplished this way but also attract tourists," the president told reporters in Surcin, where he toured the construction site of a National Stadium.

He said that the stadium "will by far be the best-looking" football stadium in the region and that it would render Belgrade the center of the entire region, an area "much wider than the former Yugoslavia."

He said that investing in the Expo 2027 and sports "is not a one-time thing but an investment in the future."

Asked how many states would participate in the Expo 2027, Vucic replied that he expected a "record" number of participants. "There will be at least 120, from China, the U.S., Russia, to all of the most powerful countries in Europe, many of our African and Asian friends whom we will provide free space to, everything that they need because we have not forgotten what happened in the U.N. and those who respect the U.N. Charter and territorial integrity of Serbia," Vucic said.
