Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Sept. 5 that an additional EUR1 billion would be budgeted for the construction and reconstruction of regional and local roads across Serbia in the next four years.
During a tour of works on building a fast road between Sabac and Loznica, he said that an arrangement had been reached with Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and that EUR250 million in additional funds had been found for each year for the next four years for building regional and state roads in all of Serbia.
"So an additional EUR1 billion it is. This is good news for the people of Serbia, it means that in every part of Serbia people will see huge progress in the construction and reconstruction and renewal of roads," Vucic said.
He stressed that the funds were intended only for local and regional roads. "These are perhaps the most important roads, which bring roads to people's gates and fields," Vucic said.
