The Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Sept. 14 that Serbia's "global diplomatic campaign for the rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija" had begun with a meeting between Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric and ambassadors from European Union member countries.

Djuric briefed them on violations of the Serb people's rights in Kosovo and the actions that Serbia would take to address them. "Serbia's global diplomatic campaign for the rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, for saving our people and their survival and the dialogue as an instrument for the survival of our people, began today," Djuric said after the meeting.

According to him, the purpose of the measures presented by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at a Sept. 13 news conference in Belgrade is "protecting Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, preserving the dialogue as a key instrument for normalizing the situation in the field, mitigating the disastrous consequences of the actions of [Kosovo Premier Albin] Kurti, who is trampling the collective human, political and economic rights of Serbs, and to make it easier for our people to survive in our southern province."

Djuric stressed that Serbia "will prosecute all who tortured and abused Serbs, but also those who aided and abetted them, Albanian or Serb, because sadly there are such" Serbs. "I think that, with all the hard, bad news coming for months and years from Kosovo and Metohija, this decision and these measures by President Vucic and the government of Serbia is finally good news for Serbs," the minister concluded.
