Radivoje Jovovic, a member of the Movement of Free Citizens and representative in Vojvodina’s provincial assembly, said on Nov. 18 that the dissatisfied people of Vojvodina and Serbia as a whole are tired of marching and that new forms of protest will be spreading throughout the country.
“By employing various kinds of civil disobedience we want to achieve the fulfillment of our demands,” he said.
According to Jovovic, the bloody handprint symbol being used by the new wave of protests is both commemorative and an expression of the people’s ire – and the spate of such graffiti is “making the regime nervous.”
The public must remain united in its fight for the fulfillment of their demands in the wake of the Novi Sad tragedy, Jovovic said, particularly in determining culpability for the collapse of the railway station overhang which killed 15 people, including children.
