People's Party executive board president Nikola Dragovic said on Dec. 5 that the electoral system in Serbia favored partisan tickets and the control of party leaders, adding that this needed to change to lower tensions in society.

In a written statement he said that introducing a personalized, proportional electoral system would enable citizens to directly choose their representatives, adding that this would bring higher transparency and responsibility.

"MPs are often, yesmen to their parties more than true representatives of citizens. This structure leaves little space for responsibility and efficiency," Dragovic added.
