Usain Bolt, the Jamaican retired sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medalist, will be a brand ambassador of specialized international exposition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, President Aleksandar Vucic announced on June 17.
Vucic told reporters at Palace of Serbia that EXPO 2027 would be promoted by several brand ambassadors, including Bolt, “the world’s fastest human.”
“I want EXPO to be the biggest event in the world in 2027, and it will be. Specialized exposition themed Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All, hosted by Serbia, will be the biggest event on Earth,” Vucic said, adding that so far, 115 countries had confirmed their participation. The EXPO in Astana, saw 117 participating countries, while the event in Serbia, according to him, will host 135 countries.
Usain Bolt said he was much honored to make his first visit to Serbia, and to have the opportunity to promote EXPO worldwide. “After a meeting with the president earlier, we also discussed ways for Serbia’s further development. I am happy to be able to present the beauties of Serbia to more people,” Bolt said, adding that EXPO presented a great opportunity for the country’s development.
