Ambassador of China Li Ming stated on Dec. 10, at the opening of the exhibition titled “Belgrade – Beijing, 70 Years of Friendship and Cooperation of The Peoples of Serbia And China” at the Archive of Yugoslavia, that his country was ready to work closer with Serbia on opening a new chapter of cooperation.

He also recollected the official establishing of diplomatic relations between China and SFR Yugoslavia in 1955 and the two visits to Serbia by Chinese President Xi Jinping and one to China by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Ambassador Ming pointed out that China and Serbia always supported one another in matters of sovereignty, independence and dignity. He added that the mutual trust between Serbia and China was “as solid as a rock” and that the two countries were setting off on a path of another 70 years of friendship.

Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, who also attended the opening of the exhibition, said that the event reminded him of “a well-known Chinese proverb” which states that “the journey of a hundred miles begins with one step.” He added that relations between Serbia and China had “reached the highest level in history,” that they could be described as “more than friendly” and that Serbia was the first country in Europe that is building a community for the future with China.
