By Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2025, Serbia placed 116th out of 182 countries and territories worldwide ranked by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, scoring worst in the past two decades, Transparency Serbia has announced.
On Transparency International scale from zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean), Serbia scored 33, two points lower than last year, which is also its lowest ranking since 2004.
Also, Serbia’s score is nine points below the global average and 29 points lower than the European Union average.
Serbia’s ranking, according to Transparency Serbia, is 45 places down from its best result achieved 10 years ago, while the country for the first time has the lowest ranking among the countries in the region, placing behind Bosnia and Herzegovina (34).
In Europe, the only three countries behind Serbia are Belarus (31), Turkey (31) and Russia (22).
The top performing nations are Denmark (89) and Finland (88), while the lowest ranked countries are Somali (9) and South Sudan (9).
