The crew of the N1 TV station was not permitted to report from the opening of the honorary consulate of Russia in Novi Sad on April 23, nor was a reporter from the Danas daily.

N1 reporter Sanja Kosovic stated in the broadcast that she had been approached by a policeman who asked for the accreditation, and then told her not to approach the area where the other media were positioned. “I feel discriminated against because my cameraman and I were the only ones forced to report from 10-15 meters away, despite the event being held in the open and on public grounds,” Kosovic told BETA.

Kosovic said that she was “certain” that non-accredited reporters were present at the event. She said that she applied for accreditation on April 22, but that the media service of the Embassy of Russia in Serbia had denied it, citing “elevated security measures.”
