President of Srpska Lista (Serb Ticket) Zlatan Elek said on May 11 that he expected the Serbs in Kosovo to show political wisdom and responsibility in the June 7 elections, and the Serb Ticket to emerge even stronger.
"I expect the Serb Ticket to be even stronger in the upcoming vote on June 7, because that is the only way we can protect the interests of the Serb people here in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija," Elek told Serbia's public broadcaster RTS, appealing to unity among Serbs and as high a turnout as possible.
"It is important that on June 7 we go to the polling stations in as large numbers as possible, that we do not split our votes and that we do not support Kurti's satellites," Elek said, adding that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija were exhausted by frequent election cycles, as well as by what he described as pressure and ungrounded arrests.
"We fully understand the citizen’s fatigue and concern, because behind us are several election cycles, along with difficult months and years during which enormous pressure has been exerted on the Serbian people," Elek said, adding that Srpska Lista has been denied representatives in certain municipal election commissions again, warning at what he described as institutional discrimination.
