During the 10th Berlin Process Summit in Germany's capital, a declaration was adopted on Oct. 14, proclaiming regional cooperation as a shared priority for the Western Balkan countries.

The leaders of the Western Balkans Six adopted a Joint Declaration during the conference,  reaffirming good neighborly relations and regional cooperation, while subscribing to  democracy, fundamental rights and the rule of law are as the fundamentals of the region's stability and prosperity.

The Declaration highlights dialogue and a constructive approach as vital in addressing unresolved bilateral issues, and the leaders embraced the principles of solidarity, trust, security, respect and good neighborly relations to guide their cooperation.

"We acknowledge the need to face the legacies of the past and commit to actively engaging in  reconciliation, continuing efforts to resolve the fate of remaining missing persons in the region and solve outstanding bilateral issues through negotiations, dialogue, and other means of peaceful dispute settlement instead of using these issues for divisive narratives or to block, or encourage others to block, their neighbors on their path to EU integration," the WB6 leaders stated in the Declaration.

The Western Balkan leaders also signed a new Action Plan for the Common Regional Market for the period from 2025 to 2028, which is part of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and is intended to serve as a springboard for broader integration with the EU’s single market.

The summit was hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and attended by Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, North Macedonia's Hristijan Mickoski, Croatia's Andrej Plenkovic Albania's Edi Rama, Kosovo's Albin Kurti, Hungary's Viktor Orban, the chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Kristo, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
