The National Bank of Serbia has announced that official talks between the representatives of Serbia and an International Monetary Fund mission had begun on Oct. 22 with a plenary meeting at the central bank as part of "the second review of the economic program supported by the Policy Coordination Instrument."
National Bank of Serbia governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic, also Serbia's governor at the IMF, headed the Serbian delegation. Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali was present at the meeting with associates, as was a representative of the Ministry of the Economy, a press release noted. The IMF mission, spearheaded by Annette Kyobe, will be in Belgrade until Oct. 30.
According to the statement, "the discussions will focus on the latest macroeconomic developments, economic outlook and risks, as well as key issues regarding the program's implementation and progress on reforms." The statement recalled that the first review of the economic program was completed in June 2025 with a decision of the IMF's Executive Board on its successful conclusion.
"The current advisory, non-financing Policy Coordination Instrument was approved to the Republic of Serbia on 9 December 2024 for a 36-month period. It is approved to countries that are implementing credible economic policies. Performance under the programme is monitored within regular semi-annual reviews," the central bank's statement read.
