The expected adoption of a resolution on Srebrenica by the U.N. General Assembly has prompted Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to launch an unprecedented diplomatic campaign, in an attempt to discourage as many countries as possible from voting for the document. For days, Vucic has been attributing huge importance to the resolution – ahead of the trip to New York, he sought the Serbian Orthodox Church patriarch’s blessing and announced that in the future he would divide all countries into “friendly” and “partners,” based on how they vote in the U.N. General Assembly on May 23.
