Civic Democratic Forum: Brussels Agreement Leads to Independent Kosovo

The president of the Civic Democratic Forum, Zoran Vuletic, said on Oct. 18 that a Belgrade-Pristina agreement reached in Brussels, in 2013, addressed the main bones of contention between the two, and that, among other things, it would lead to the formal independence of Kosovo, as the two parties agreed not to hinder each other's effort to join the European Union, for which independence was a prerequisite.

"It's a logical sequence of events following Yugoslavia's capitulation in 1999 and the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244, which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says supports the Albanian party to the negotiations 95 percent," Vuletic said in an interview with BETA, adding that he supported the Brussels agreement and he didn't consider the Serbian speaker, Ivica Dacic, and Vucic "traitors" for supporting it.

"The two are responsible for having supported a war mongering policy pursued by (a former Yugoslav president Slobodan) Milosevic and (a Radical leader Vojislav) Seselj that led to Kosovo's independence in the 1990s. Serbia is still hostage to that awful policy, and it's high time that the Brussels agreement be fully implemented, so that we can start dealing properly with the lives of our children, that is, the future, and, in the foreseeable future, as a member of the EU club," Vuletic underlined.
