The deadline for completing the population census in Serbia will be extended by one to seven days in some municipalities, so that all citizens get a chance to be enumerated, said a statement released on Oct. 31.
The original deadline is Oct. 31, and the Serbian Statistical Office says the census will be prolonged.
Statistical Office Assistant Director Petar Korovic told N1 TV that the situation was being analyzed and that an official announcement would be made sometime during the day about where the deadline would be extended and by how many days.
According to him, for the time being the census will certainly be prolonged in some city municipalities in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis.
He said the census would be extended in about 30 municipalities countrywide, by one to seven days, depending on the needs of a particular municipality.
Korovic recalled that the 2011 census had also been extended by five days in big cities and municipalities.
