Immunologist Srdja Jankovic said on Jan. 14 that the coronavirus is "not abating" and that it was still too early to speak of any improvement in the epidemiological situation.

"The number of newly infected is not small in any way, and this is people that we are talking about not numbers. Maybe the numbers are slightly lower than they were in the period at the end of last year, but the question is whether this is a realistic picture because we know that less people visit the doctor during the holidays," Jankovic, who is a member of the Crisis Headquarters for fighting the coronavirus, told Pink TV.

Asked about the number of people who had applied for vaccination, he said that there had been a solid response." The response is solid, but there is a fear in the minds of some who maybe don't want to apply and want to wait awhile, and reconsider things, which is expected and natural. Our job is to persuade people that the vaccines, which have undergone testing, are efficient and safe," Jankovic said.
