Serbia’s nine municipalities along the Raska river are responding to a flood emergency, and the body of a man from Novi Pazar who had gone missing in the river was recovered on Jan. 23.

Leposavic, Prijepolje, Sjenica, Novi Pazar, Brus, Tutin, Kursumlija, Prokuplje and part of Kraljevo are the flooded municipalities.

A hydrologist from the Serbian Weather Institute, Dejan Vladikovic, said in an interview with the state public service RTS that rain was expected in the next 24 hours in the southwest and south of Serbia, where river overflows were reported last week.

Raska’s emergency response team warned that another flood wave was possible along the Ibar and Raska rivers due to the rain, adopting additional measures to prevent the overflows.

The police of Novi Pazar recovered the body of the man who went missing on Jan. 19, when he fell into the Trnavica river, Sto Plus Radio reported. Together with his neighbor, also killed in the flooding, the man had been trying to stop the river from overflowing the neighboring yards when he fell in the water.
