At 6 p.m. on Sept. 6, protestors will block four of the five administrative crossings between Kosovo and Montenegro and Serbia proper. According to Rasa Rojevic, the head of the Citizens’ Association of the Kosovo-Mitrovica District, the blockade is planned to last “until Kosovo Police withdraw from northern Kosovo and until the hijacked institutions are returned to Serbs.”
Speaking for BETA, Rojevic said that the blockade will be staged by patriotic associations of citizens from Kosovo and involve three crossings between Kosovo and Serbia, and one with Montenegro.
“We will block the Brnjak, Jarinje and Merdare crossings from the Central Serbian side, and the Kula crossing on the Pec-Rozaje road from the Montenegrin side. For now, the Konculj administrative crossing will not be blocked. We will let through only hospital vehicles and vehicles and passengers with Serbian documents. If Serbian documents are invalid in Kosovo, then documents issued by so-called Kosovo cannot be valid in Central Serbia either,” Rojevic explained.
In response to the announced blockades, Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on citizens, including the diaspora, to avoid traveling through Serbia.
