In a Nov. 10 telephone conversation with U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his belief in a "stronger partnership with the U.S."
"I believe in a stronger partnership with the U.S. under the leadership of President Trump," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post, adding that his talk with Tump, who is to take office in January, was excellent -- cordial and meaningful.
Vucic told Trump he wanted bilateral relations to be elevated in all areas, and expressed the hope that the new U.S. president would visit Serbia, because "Serbia was the country where support for his election was the greatest in all of Europe."
The Serbian president added that Trump had thanked him for the support from Serbia" from Serbian citizens and the Serbian people." "I am confident that, with the support of our friends -- and among friends I include the entire staff of President Trump that was with him tonight, too, during our conversation, we will be able to make America great, and that we will be able to make Serbia a decent country, a country that will be able to work well, very well with the U.S.," Vucic said in a video posted on Instagram.
