Serbian Parliament Debate on Lithium Mining, Oct. 8 2024 (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Serbian parliament will convene in mid-March to review the situation in Republika Srpska. The session is supposed to be attended by RS President Milorad Dodik, the media reported on Feb. 27.
The session will begin on March 14 and end on March 16, according to announcements.
On Feb. 26 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina found Dodik guilty of not implementing a decision by the international High Representative and sentenced him to one year in prison plus a six-year ban on performing the office of RS president.
If Dodik receives a binding sentence of one year in prison he will no longer be able to run for public office as this is banned by the Bosnian Law on Elections (any official sentenced to more than six months in prison can no longer run for public office). If the sentence is confirmed, Dodik can avoid going to prison as the law allows sentences of up to one year in prison to be exchanged for a fine, at a convict’s request.
