EPS (BETAPHOTO/ AMIR HAMZAGIC)
National power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has become the biggest shareholder of the Politika publishing company, after the completion of conversion of company debt into shares, the media reported on July 3.
According to the Nedeljnik.rs website, EPS' stake in Politika now amounts to 27.29 percent or 14.67 million shares. That puts EPS firmly in first place on the list of the biggest owners of Politika.
The Republic of Serbia is right behind it with a share of 16.37 percent.
Nedeljnik recalls that the company no longer publishes the eponymous newspaper and has also stepped out of the ownership structure of the Politika Novine i Magazini (Politika Newspapers and Magazines) company, after its stake was purchased by the Media 026 firm, headquartered in the village of Vucak near Smederevo.
