Vucic pandemia press conference (Beta/Serbian Presidency/Dimitrije Goll)

The growth of the number of people infected with and those who have died of the novel coronavirus is accelerating in Serbia, but the authorities and the health care system are for the time being managing to keep infection spread under control, primarily thanks to very strict measures. A curfew is in place from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., persons over the age of 65 are banned from leaving their homes and a whole host of other restrictions has been set with the aim of minimizing contact between people and consequently infection spread. The authorities have numerous options for quick action, as a state of emergency was introduced earlier, which has simplified the ramping up of measures. Everything is decided on by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and the cabinet members, in consultation with relevant experts.
