Serbian-Albanian relations have been marked by a long history of „living parallel lives in a shared territory,“ but also of occasional open political and even armed clashes, involving military, police and guerrilla warfare, which actually amounts to an ethnic conflict. In a deeper sense of the word, it is a fight to win control over Kosovo’s territory and resources, involving also the status of Kosovo and of the Serb community in Kosovo. The question of the status has become vital in the most recent history of the Kosovo crisis, which is why it is imperative to resolve it to solidify peace and, by extension, treat nation building as an answer to the status issue.
