Corona Virus

A 60-year-old woman infected by coronavirus has died in Nis, according to a statement given by Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar to the RTS public service on March 25.

The woman, suffering from diabetes, is the fourth victim of the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia and has been on a ventilator since March 21.

Minister Loncar called again on citizens to avoid physical contact and stay home. He added that 21 persons are on ventilators, and that two infants, also infected by the virus, are in good condition.

Epidemiologist Darija Kisic-Tepavcevic said on March 25 that persons who were in close contact with confirmed cases, regardless of whether they show symptoms of the infection or not, as well as medical workers with or without symptoms will be subjected to the announced mass testing.

Kisic-Tepavcevic told TV Prva that this means that all potential “reservoirs of infection” will be intensively investigated, while the essence of the fight against the disease will remain unchanged – isolation and social distancing.

According to the March 24 data, 303 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Serbia.
