Official: Immunization to Be Completed by mid-June if Serbia Gets All Ordered Vaccines

Mirsad Djerlek, the state secretary in the Serbian Health Ministry, has said that the immunization of Serbian citizens will be completed by mid-June this year if Serbia receives all the vaccines it had ordered.

“If we get all the arranged quantities and if they are delivered as agreed, we expect we will finalize the vaccination by the end of May or mid-June. In this way the younger population will not have to wait until 2022, but in the worst case, their vaccination will begin in early May,” Djerlek said in an interview for the daily Politika on Jan. 13.

He also said that “all those who apply for vaccination will be vaccinated,” adding that Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic had announced that eight million doses will be procured, which means that four million people will be vaccinated.

He also pointed out that Serbia is among the rare countries that in January and February will have at its disposal 500,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, one million doses of the Chinese vaccine, and 300,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
