Belgrade has vaccinated 600,592 people, or 43.2 percent of the population, against COVID-19, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said on April 30.
"We have the best results in the 65 to 74 population, 72.52 percent of whom have been vaccinated. In Belgrade, 1,052,212 doses of the vaccine had been administered by April 29," Vesic said.
Belgraders received the largest number of vaccines produced by Sinopharm, 676,999 doses, followed by Pfizer, 179,125 doses, Sputnik V, 162,040 doses, and AstraZeneca, 60,830 doses.
"Our first goal is to vaccinate half of the adult population in Belgrade and in order to succeed, we need to immunize another 94,538 citizens. Our final goal is to immunize at least 750,000 adult Belgraders," Vesic said.
Vojvodina Health Secretary Zoran Gojkovic said on April 30 that epidemiology indicators in Serbia remained uncertain and that this was why measures had not been relaxed.
"Estimates say that, considering what we have in store in the near future, we are staying at this level for now. The number of newly infected is dropping, but it is still high and we have to be cautious," Gojkovic told Pink TV.
