Kosovo

All key political actors in Kosovo have accepted without objection a ruling of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo ordering that a snap general election be held in the next 40 days, after the Court determined that deputy Etem Arifi had voted illegally. Arifi, whose vote ensured that incumbent Premier Avdullah Hoti’s government got a majority, has a past criminal conviction. In line with the Kosovo Constitution and the Law on General Elections, a person who was handed a final court verdict in the last three years cannot be a candidate for deputy nor win a seat in the Kosovo Assembly.
